SAGE Publishing launches Journal of Chinese Writing Systems in partnership with the Center for the Study and Application of Chinese Characters
London, UK. SAGE Publishing today announced the launch of a new journal focused on Chinese writing systems in partnership with the Center for the Study and Application of Chinese Characters (CSACC) at the East China Normal University (ECNU).
Encompassing a broad theoretical scope, Journal of Chinese Writing Systems explores the diverse use of symbols across the Chinese language and addresses how the construction of Chinese writing informs other major Chinese studies such as: Chinese language, literature, philosophy and psychology.
On its launch Zang Kehe, Editor-in-Chief of the journal, remarked:
“Chinese writing systems are vastly different from the major writing systems of western languages and Journal of Chinese Writing Systems is an exciting new development that will give voice to research that will have wide reaching implications in the field of language studies. Alongside SAGE and the CSACC, we look forward to showcasing this important research and seeing its impact in the field.”
The journal will welcome original articles, review articles, book reviews, comments, correspondence on research and applications of Chinese characters, which include subjects such as Chinese characters, ancient scripts, as well as cross-disciplinary studies between Chinese writing and ancient history.
Miranda Nunhofer, Executive Director, Humanities and Social Science Journals, SAGE Publishing commented:
“Journal of Chinese Writing Systems offers a unique insight into the construction of Chinese language and writing. This partnership with the CSACC is a fantastic opportunity to work together to provide researchers with important insights into this field and complements our existing portfolio of language and linguistics journals.”
