From an award-winning author team, the advice contained here will empower you, and give you the confidence to identify and plan for the needs of every child in your care.
Topics discussed in chapters are as follows:
- observation and assessment of needs
- physical development, and how to spot problems
- communication, language and literacy, and how to spot difficulties
- personal, social and emotional development, in line with the holistic child emphasis of the EYFS
There are also:
- case studies of children between 0 to 5 years
- sample policies
- lots of photocopiable material, on the CD-Rom that comes with the book
Suitable for all early years students and practitioners, this book reminds the reader that all children require additional support at some stage, and that providing it is an essential part of good practice.
A very useful book which I did recommend for our students on the health and Well-being module which was a core module for our ECS degree. This module has now closed but the book has been transferred to another module which is also core for our second year course
May be too basic for some students but this book will help students who did not have any special needs knowledge in EY settings.
A great text for exploring this topic, particularly from a practitioner's perspective.
This is a practical and useful book which is extremely helpful to all those working in early years. It addresses how special needs can be identified and supported across different areas of provision and suggests practical ways of supporting children with special needs. The CD Rom provides an alternative means of accessing the material, which should appeal to all types of learners.
Bright, colourful book. Eyecatching. Great accompanying disc
