Dr. Luciano Baracco is currently an Assistant Professor in Political Science and International Relations at the Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus where he teaches in the fields of contemporary conflict, terrorism, Latin American politics, and international organisations. His research interests over the previous 20 years have focused on nationalism and ethnic conflict, Indigenous revitalization movements, and the autonomy process on Nicaragua’s Caribbean Coast. He is currently conducting research on globalisation and Indigenous political movements in Latin America and undocumented migration and refugee arrivals to the Mediterranean islands of Lampedusa, Malta and Cyprus. He conducted his doctoral research at the Instituto de Historia de Nicaragua y Centroamerica at the Universidad Centroamerican, Nicaragua . He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK).
