Cognitive/Behaviour Therapy
This distinctive practical format is ideal in showing how to put the principles of CBT and stepped care into effect. As well as echoing postgraduate level training, it provides an insight into the experiences the trainee will encounter in real-world practice. Each chapter addresses a specific client condition and covers initial referral, presentation and assessment, case formulation, treatment interventions, evaluation of CBT strategies and discharge planning. Specific presenting problems covered include:
- First onset and chronic Depression
- Social Phobia
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
- Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
- Chronic Bulimia Nervosa and Anorexia nervosa
- Alcohol Addiction
- Personality Disorder
The book also includes practical learning exercises for the reader and clinical hints, as well as extensive reference to further CBT research, resources and reading. This timely text will be invaluable for trainees on Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programmes, and anyone studying on postgraduate CBT courses.
This book will be an ideal companion not only for students taking a particular CBT specialist module, but also to flesh out understanding of how CBT looks in practice for those with a more integrative perspective. I know of no other book which draws together case study material in such a way.
Case studies interesting and vaired with good worked illustrations from practice making CBT theory come alive. Used currently in preparation of teaching sessions and roleplay activities. Well liked by the student group as can be used in a practical way to demonstrate skills required to deliver interventions. A very useful book for teachers and students alike.
This is a very useful and interesting book. The use of case studies to contextualise theory is very helpful.
A great resource for both staff and students to supplement CBT training.
this text book provides case study material to help students learn how to apply theoretical concepts to clinical work. The case study material is informative for those students intested in developing the integation of Cbt.
This book is an excellent text for tutorials and as supplementary material for our main sessions
Thank you for the opportunity for inspecting this text. I have notified our library
A well- written and practical text that addresses a number of specific client conditions and provides guidance relating to the structure of specific sessions. Due to the complex nature of the problems that clients present with in therapy, I did find the chapters associated with, for example, working with clients with OCD; PTSD, and Dependent Personality Disorder somewhat simplistic. Nevertheless, the identified theory and informed information regarding assessment, case formulation, treatment interventions, and reference to research are indeed of value to practitioners undertaking CBT training and specifically to those involved in the delivery of time-limited interventions.
A good book covering useful case studies. An essential read to help students write case study assignments in CBT.
This is a really useful book to explore CBT in more depth. It will be helpful in getting students to discuss specific issues.
Inspiring for tutors and students.
