SAGE partners with the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology to publish the International Journal of Qualitative Methods

October 14, 2015

SAGE is pleased to announce a new partnership with the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology (IIQM) to publish the International Journal of Qualitative Methods (IJQM).  An open access publication, this official journal of IIQM is a resource for a global community of academics, students, and professionals who undertake qualitative research.

“It’s really exciting to work with SAGE. SAGE has an incredibly rich, diverse, high reputation in the research community, particularly around their methods work,” commented Editor-In-Chief Dr. Alexander Clark.  “This journal is in essence interdisciplinary, and in that way, it makes the perfect partnership.”

"The International Institute for Qualitative Methodology has worked with SAGE for years from the books side, and SAGE has always been a support and a sponsor of IIQM, so it was a natural fit to expand our partnership with the journal,” commented Bailey Sousa, Director of the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology.

The International Journal of Qualitative Methods addresses qualitative methodology and related issues across a broad range of disciplines such as health, psychology, politics, education and many more. Publishing articles on qualitative methodology and research protocols, the open access journal publishes a global exchange of knowledge and ideas to further qualitative investigation.

“Recognizing the need for development in research methods, SAGE has been committed to the advancement of qualitative inquiry since the publication of our “little blue books” – the Qualitative Research Methods series – in the 1970s,” commented Bob Howard, Vice President of Journals at SAGE. “We’re delighted to work with the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology to expand this support and to bring the innovative journal to a wider audience.”

Founded in 1998 at the University of Alberta, the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology is dedicated to advancing qualitative research for the betterment of society. The interdisciplinary Institute provides qualitative methods training and professional networking opportunities at annual conferences, courses and workshops.

Dr. Clark continued, "It's the involvement of three parties that is key here - it's SAGE with their fantastic reputation, the International Journal of Qualitative Methods with its track record in publishing innovative work, and the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology. Together, we make a wonderful team and offer possibilities to reach new disciplines and new audiences."
