A gem of a book. An excellent reference point for students interested in the study of Policing.
The book provides a very good overview of all of the issues related to policing. There are however other books out there which provide a more in-depth analysis of the same topic areas also in one book. At the same time this is a very good supplemental text which can serve as a springboard to other more in-depth analysis of the subject discussed.
This 'dictionary' (it is far more) not only provides clear and concise definitions of many of the major concepts and issues in modern-day policing, it also provides distinctive features, evaluations and key texts of each topic. This reference book is easy to read and provides an excellent starting point for research on policing and I would recommend that students invest in a copy.
