"We need to teach students how to learn, not just what to learn. This book is full of valuable information on how to accomplish this, including practical lesson ideas, examples, and vignettes. Any educator will benefit from reading this book and thinking about teaching in a new way."
"Illustrates specific researched-based strategies that develop tools for lifelong learning. The author provides several examples, practices, and applications for study skills, metacognitive thinking, and reflection for an effective, successful learning environment."
"Provides a creative and badly needed approach to learning. I have been in public education for 40 years, and I have seldom seen a more creative text."
extremely useful, in developing teaching
I found this book to contain a lot of useful information that will not only help my learners who are aspiring teachers, but myself as a reminder and enhancer for my experience.
some good teaching skills here for growth
A useful and insightful reference for learning and teaching approaches. Although primarily written with K12 education in mind, the principles may be easily modified and applied to educational different levels.
A highly recommened read/reference for anyone interested in learning and teaching methods.
A good read, I found the section on motivating students particularly useful. Doesn't matter how good you are at teaching, if you cant motivate your students. you are fighting a losing battle
Would be well placed as a sound supplemental resource.
A book for all teachers to refer to. If we do not know how students learn then we are unlikely to teach them anything new. It identifies different strategies that can be used in the classroom. A well written book that will help inexperienced and experienced teachers.
Presented in a clear, simple and enaging manner (the use of humour very good).
One of the best books I've read on the subject.
