'A great book for anyone embarking on a teaching career in adult and further education. Relevant to all teachers, whether in family learning, prison education, colleges or community centres'-Pip Kings, Institute of Educaiton, University of London
'Whether new to teaching, training or just requiring a refresher, this book, written by seasoned teacher educators, is a must. It will definitely have a home on my bookshelf'-Dr Anne Samson, Westminster Partnership Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training
Easy to read resource
Mary Francis provides a very useful guide for professionals new to teaching in the lifelong learning sector.
good basis for DETS qualification covering some of the more basic areas.
similar to others in this sector but much more in depth. Good section on VLE and powerpoints.
The book is a useful, accessible reference book for building knowledge and understanding on the L3 PTLLS
An excellent resource to accompany your PTLLS course. It has useful web links and is completely up todate. It will certainly point you in the right direction for all of your assignments particularly if you don't have any teching experience before you start the course.
With the revocation of PTLLS and the change to the Award in Education and Training, this book has become somewhat redundant. But the 1st edition was my favourite PTLLS text-- much better than Ann Gravells-- and I hope these authors will do a similar text for the Award.
This was very useful to help plan the lessons, and I have reccommended it as suggested reading.
A recommended read for all students on our PTLLS programme.
A good choice for those learners needing further support, particular at level 3.
Some students have used this book in addition to others in preparing their PTLLS assignments
This is a useful supplement to Ann Gravells publication with helpful tips and good advice on achieving the award and on improving skills to meet learners' needs.
Useful text to support learners as they complete the PTLLS qualification.
This book has many activities for the reader to attempt and offers strategies that can be adopted for a variety of learning and teaching issues.
A good first book for anyone completing PTLLS
It is useful to have a variety of authors now writing for the PTLLS course, previously there was only one main author which limited the selection of course specific literature available. The book is well laid out and user friendly which is required for such a short course of adult learners. I will be ordering a few of these books for the library for new courses starting in September.
A great book that covers the basics of what PTLLS aims to achieve. This book has more information than Gravells, particularly on functional skills and legislation.
Like many of the tasks/activities in the book,. There was a good linkage to the Learning outcomes to help learners complete their award.
This book was aimed at teaching a level below what I expected. Some sections may be useful to apply to the PGCTHE, but not the book as a whole.
