There are useful chapters on aspects such as the importance of PE in primary schools, and contemporary issues in PE. However, as the book heavily links to the 2007 standards, it is not as relevant, which is a shame. Have you considered updating this text at all?

Easy to access and understand with a range of issues raised. The Reflective and Practical Tasks are effective in extending students learning.

Useful support for students who lack confidence with this subject area.
I used this text in a first year Curriculum Design module whereby we look at different issues in designing a curriculum through the lense of a selection of curriculum subject areas. We used PE as one curriculum subject area in this module this year and hence this text provided students with key topics to consider (e.g. health and safety, and contemporary issues).

This book is an essential text for trainee teachers in the Primary School setting. It covers several important areas that will enhance teaching delivery and knowledge.
