'A practical book that fully explains the role of the nurse. This book will give students an experience of being a nurse (as much as a book can) and help them decide if nursing is for them.'
...This is an easy to read textbook, in which the reader can read this from beginning to end or use as a tool. It is a book for British nurses written by lecturers from Nottingham University, both having both acute and paediatric nurse experience...This text book is written for the student nurse and moving towards registration, but this book will refresh any grade of nurse and put nursing and caring for the patient back into focus.
Fab book. Easy to understand and helps students to understand the unique contribution of nursing to healthcare practice.
A good introduction to theory for both undergraduate as well as postgraduate nursing students.
Recommended text with relevant theory and practice materials for our degree nursing students
An essential read for year 1-3 nursing students on the Bsc programme.
Nicely laid out book easy to follow and key theory addressed
This is a great text. Be ideal for people thinking of entering a career in nursing... Not for people in nursing
I did not like the fact that the reader had to source information themselves in order to follow the text. This made learning very disjointed
I have not read any thing quite as good as this for some time. Carol Hall has captured her valuable insight into nursing in practice, her words are invaluable to those who are seeking to understand the social and professional world of nursing.
This is a good book for nursing students, it is set out well and is easy to understand. This book also covers how to apply for a job once qualified as a nurse. The sections detailing which NMC standards and Essential Skills clusters are met is very useful. I would recommend this book to both students and Lecturers
this is a foundational book that is easily accessible for students, well worth a look
This is a really good learning tool for the students working towards a degree in Nursing, whether that is pre registration or post registration, undergrad or post grad. The case studies are thought provoking and relate well to clinical practice. The activities make the reader become active in the learning and they have to go beyond what is provided in the text of the book.
A really good textbook to introduce the broader context of nursing to students.
A very easy book to read and very relevant
This is a must for our tutorials and UCAS applications - many students are gaining a better insight from what is expected of them at university.
A good resource for those interested in nursing as it explores what it means to be a nurse so helps potential students in the decision if this is the right pathway for them. I recommend this to potential candidates at open days and initial enquiries. The new chapter on tips for students is excellent
practical book to help students begin to understand the role of a nurse in any of the fields. Helpful towards applying and understanding nursing .
A relevant book that students can use to understand nursing theory and practice
This book has an easy read and logical format for new first year students to gain an insight into the world of nursing. With case studies and scenarios making it more real for the students.
as it is linked for the new domains of nursing it is also a useful additional reading for new mentors undertaking their mentorship qualification or mentors linked to universities that are just undertaking the new degree course and are unfamiliar with the new domains
