SAGE strengthens business and management portfolio following acquisition of Competition and Change: The Journal of Business and Political Economy
Los Angeles, CA - SAGE, one of the world’s leading independent and academic publishers, has today announced the purchase of Competition & Change: The Journal of Business and Political Economy. Formerly published by Maney Publishing, SAGE will commence publication of the journal with Volume 19, in January 2015.
Competition & Change: The Journal of Business and Political Economy is unique in bringing together research and ideas in global business and political economy in ways that will interest social scientists, both inside and outside schools of business and management. It features articles that use a variety of social science perspectives to develop understanding of broad business issues around globalization and financialization and their impact on economic organization and performance, social conditions, labour and policy frameworks. The journal includes contributions on the changing social settlement between the state and the private sector and within the labour markets, as well as those that address broader conceptualizations of restructuring capitalist relations. Inter-disciplinary in scope, the editors welcome submissions from international scholars with backgrounds in political and cultural economy, business economics, organizational sociology, economic geography, international relations and development studies
Speaking on the journal purchase, Karen Phillips, Editorial Director, SAGE commented:
“Since our founding, SAGE has built a strong portfolio of journals within the business and management, political economy and economic geography fields. Competition & Change: The Journal of Business and Political Economy, is one of the leading titles within this field and as such we are delighted to welcome the journal to SAGE’s publishing portfolio.Publishing high quality, global research material, we look forward to working closely with the journal’s renowned editorial board to strengthen the journal’s reach and the continued development of its readership and impact.”
Commenting on the transfer of the journal to SAGE, Maney’s Managing Director/CEO, Michael Gallico commented:
“We have been publishing Competition & Change: The Journal of Business and Political Economy for many years and have seen the title grow in strength, reach and editorial content. As Maney Publishing has also grown, however, our portfolio of journals has also developed and as such it was decided that we could no longer offer the journal the strategic support needed to further build its impact and readership. In SAGE we found a publisher who has a close strategic fit to both the journal’s goals and vision and a strong publishing portfolio within its core fields. I wish the journal and its Editor every success in the next phase of its history.”
Editor of the journal, Jane Hardy, further remarked:
“Competition & Change: The Journal of Business and Political Economy publishes some of the leading international research within the field of business and management. Speaking on behalf of the editorial team, we are very pleased to be joining in partnership with SAGE. As one of the leading academic publishers with a strong presence in the field of business management and political economy, this partnership will support the journals development and expanded global reach. We look forward to working with the teams at SAGE to build on the strong reputation of the journal as we seek to increase the impact and reach of the critical research we publish.”
