Qualitative Researching with Text, Image and Sound offers a unique resource for today's social researcher. · Part III covers computer-assisted analysis - including computer-assisted qualitative data analysis and key-word-in-context analysis.
· Part IV addresses issues of good practice, looking at problems and fallacies in interpretation and develops quality criteria for qualitative research.
This book provides researchers with the skills and knowledge to make the appropriate choices between different methods, types of data, and analytic procedures, and gives examples and criteria of good practice for each one. It's a useful source for my graduate students.
Appropriate for MA (research) students to complement main coursebooks, which focus on quantitative methods.
The book is written in a very didactic style. It gives a short overview of each method at the beginning of each chapter, and then goes into the details following a step-by-step structure. The examples used are relevant and clear.
In addition, the authors problematise the different methods, which triggers critical thinking and makes the reader question the methods, rather than taking them from granted.
The glossary is extremely useful, especially for students who are not familiar with some of these methods.
Excellent textbook for those interested in using arts based research methods
good for the students from broadcasting journalism to learn how to analysis the data of image, video and sound.I think it is suitable to use this book as the essential textbook.I'll try it in my class.

A volume which includes well organised essays on methods such as 'video,film and photographs as research documents,' 'analysis of conversation and talk,' and 'analysing noise and music as social data,' is a real treat.
