good resource although is not essential for the course.
This text provides a practical starting point for those seeking to develop their skills in this area
As part of the framework of Award, Certificate and Diploma this book is ideal.
What a super book.
Offering lots of advice and guidance in terms of being a 'teacher' and a 'trainee teacher'.
The book has a lovely light-touch approach and presents lots of 'do-able' activities for the classroom with learners and for reader as 'trainee' and student.
Particularly helpful is the guidance on what to expect from your mentor - I think this section is also extremely help for mentors too!
A great book especially if you are relatively new to teaching or are on a DTLLS course. Contains some good practical suggestions (e.g. on classroom management). Also a very useful chapter for trainee teachers on how to reflect on their teaching practice.
One very minor criticism - it has not been revised to meet the changes in the Ofsted grading criteria so on p.29 grade 3 is referred to as 'satisfactory' when it now is actually 'requires improvement'
As a new practitioner or an experienced teacher this book is worth reading and refering to. As a new practitioner an essential guide to teaching practice.
Great book for new teachers
Very useful for a range of students working in the lifelong learning sector.
